Sanchi is a small village in Madhya Pradesh, India. A remarkable ancient Buddhist monuments complex originally built by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BC is located in Sanchi, which is now declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Sanchi Main Gate in Buddhist Maha Vihara follows the architectural style of the gates in Sanchi but with a more contemporary design and less elaborate in detail than the ancient structure in Sanchi.
