How it started... Originally this started as an experiment for us to try out some of our ideas and a place for our homepage. Ever since it has grown and evolved so we decided to make this a permanent part of our endeavour. This site is for sharing of ideas, skills and experiences on things we know. Currently it is on photography, film camera and digital camera, and also to showcase our photographs on the photo gallery and photo essay. There are also write-ups on home computing and how and where you can find freeware, open source software and shareware for beginners. We just added a fun page with javascript game and a freeware and shareware review sections. More are in the pipeline and will be posted on the site news when ready. So stay tuned for updates......

Server move.
This week the Hosting Company who hosted our site moved their server to a new data centre. This is no easy task for any soul, the guy running this server stayed awake for over 36 hours to make sure everything was running smoothly! I must say this guy is really a wonderful host-master. He has everything under control, and solved every problem within a very short period when it surfaced. smile If a user reported a problem related with the move our good man can usually straighten it within an hour, amazing! I checked my site yesterday and today and didn't see any error so far and I hope nothing unusual will happen. This move requires changes to the name server and will take 72 hours to fully propagate throughout the Internet so latest by this Thursday all visitors should be at the new server. smile

Now the moved is considered completed and minor problems reported by users are solved very quickly by our good host-master. There maybe still some minor problems here and there but nothing major. wink

Weblog – Looking through my tea cup.
Another new addition to stsite is our weblog titled -- “Looking through my tea cup.” Weblog is not new to us. In fact what you are reading right now is a form of blog or web log that we utilise to inform and keep our index or home page current. It happened sometime last year while having tea. We seemed to chat on a lot of things during our tea session - old memories that made us laughed when looking back now though it wasn't laughing matter then! Things we liked and things we wanted to say a word or two regardless if our comments added any meaning or any value(some mortal beings ha!ha!laughing) and real-life jokes and cultural shock that made us laugh! So we said to ourselves "why don't we note it down" and that's how we started a weblog.

Initially we did it on the web service offered by Blogger.com. We did not do it so often partly because Blogger.com wasn't that easy for Jade.sad After testing a few Blog and CMS php script over a period of time, we found WordPress and Jade likes it because of WordPress's no nonsense interface and clean-cut look. She is now blogging away happily on this WordPress set up and we have also moved some of the old stories from Blogger to this new site. We have also revamped our “Looking through my tea cup” and relaunched it now, so join us and have fun. The url is blog.stsite.com, CU there folks! tongue

Site moved and new url
We have completed the move to our new home with a new url. As you can see the new url is short and easy to remember. If you bookmark us before maybe you want to update the new url for future reference. smile We also updated many of our files and folders and the structure of the site is slightly modified. Our ever popular Photo Essay on Petronas Twin Towers now has its own url klcc.stsite.com and pages on milestone and fact sheet on Petronas twin Towers have been added. Last week a joker mistook us as Petronas Corporation and sent us an email asking us for the list of Petronas petrol kiosks and their managers in-charge !! laughing Anyway hope you enjoy your stay with us. More new updates will be posted soon, so stay tuned folks!!

Online shopping took three days to complete!!
While looking for a domain name we also shopped for the best price available on the market.tongue Local companies are offering international domain name between RM35 to RM55. A search on Google found domain as low as $5.99 (RM23) for a name only account, Godaddy.com is offering $7.95(RM30) with many excellent service bundled in. My final choice was with a company offering $6.99 (RM26.6) with additional services.
This is my first experience with this company and they have been around for a long time and has operation in USA, Europe, Korea and Australia. After signing up I received a confirmation email telling me my purchase was successful and I could login to check my domain! But login in to my control panel showed I had no domain name! wassat Thinking that it properly took sometime for them to set it up. However the next day I recieved an email telling me my purchase was on hold and I needed to send them a fax for confirmation before the domain name would be released! I did not fax them anything 'cos I didn't quite like the idea of faxing. After a few hours they sent another email asking me to reconfirm my purchase online I reconfirmed my purchase online but the confirmation links returned "page not found"!angry Asking myself what was wrong with this guy; were they trying to hold the name and resell it at a higher price? If so I would have to get cracking on another name and sign-up with someone else! (Godaddy.com was on my mind as I had good experience with them!)....
Day three, another email asking for reconfirmation mmm.... Nevertheless I reconfirmed my details on the email and this time it said reconfirmation OK! shortly after that I recieved an email saying my domain name was ready and to login to my control panel. I finally saw my domain name there sitting pretty waiting for me.smile
This compnay is way too careful maybe 'cos of where I come from.wink Can you believe that, it took three days to finish an online shopping enough time to fly there to do a physical purchase but of course the real saving is not time but $$ in online shopping!laughing
